5 ways to give back to animals.

Please confirm animals are the best! Besides making our lives a million times better, animals play a tremendous role when it comes to maintaining balance in the ecosystem. Mother nature is wise and created every species on this planet for a purpose. Unfortunately, humans already messed it up; we’ve been underestimating the value of animals and neglecting their basic needs, causing a very negative impact on the environment. Right now, the situation is bad and we need to take action quickly. That’s why today I felt inspired by sharing with you five simple and easy things we can do to help the animals and mitigate the damage that we are causing them.

This is probably one of the most meaningful things you can do for the animals and for the environment itself. The meat industry is cruel, careless and greedy AF. Things are no longer the way they used to be 200 years ago and because of that, we need to adapt. Reducing the consumption of animal products is not only good for the animals but also good for the environment, your health and your pocketbook.

Yes, I’m well aware it’s unrealistic to expect everyone to give up meats and animal products completely, so I only want to focus on a keyword: REDUCING consumption. Think about it this way: it’s a numbers game and right now, it’s important how much we do, but it is more important how many of us are doing it. We don’t have to give up everything right away to create impact; instead, we can start with committing to these initial baby steps.

Begin with little things like establishing a “meatless day” or quitting those meats and animal products that you are not too obsessed about. How about simply cutting off cow milk and replacing it with almond milk? Or switching to plant-based hot dogs that look and taste like the real thing? Almond milk yogurt tastes even better than regular yogurt, so what’s the excuse? Little changes like those matters, and once you start the rest will come gradually.  Oh, and while we work on all of the above, let’s try to only purchase animal products that are certified humane.

In 2019, this is one of the easiest changes to make. The market is saturated – positively – with cruelty-free products that are not only affordable, but much better quality than animal tested products. What’s the easiest way to start? Well, next time you run out of a product, simply go online and google “cruelty-free *name of the product*”. THAT’S ALL! You will have hundreds of options that you can purchase online or at your nearest store. Note: do not throw away the products that you currently have. You already paid for them and it’s not worth it to waste them, so just finish them and move on to something better.

Keep in mind that cruelty-free doesn’t only apply to makeup; personal hygiene items, cleaning products, brushes, and other items are also included.

The more of us who support cruelty-free companies, the more obligated other companies will be to stop testing on animals.

We have already taken over many animals’ natural habits, so the least we can do is to give them a little bit back.

Gardening is already one of the coolest activities you can ever do. Now, gardening with a purpose is 100% times better. Whether you have a big backyard or just a little balcony in your apartment, having a wildlife-friendly environment is a great way to help. Things like installing a bird feeder, birdhouse and even a bird bath are easy and affordable. Also, planting some flowers or native fruit trees that can serve as a food source for butterflies, birds, squirrels, and insects will make a huge positive impact on the ecosystem.

There’s not too much to say about this besides STOP SUPPORTING ANIMAL ENTERTAINMENT! Zoos, circus, amusement parks, hotels… all of them abuse their animals in one way or another. On your next vacation, please abstain from swimming with dolphins, riding an elephant or petting a lion. Do not contribute to this horrible business, and do not contribute to animal suffering.

As I mentioned before, it’s important how much we do, but it’s more important how many of us are doing it. Please, share what you have learned with as many people as you can. This post mentions only 0,01% of what you can do to help! If something that I wrote caught your attention, or if you are curious about the subject, please do more research. Information is one of the greatest tools we have in this era and we need to start making good use of it.

I hope this post inspires you to start acting if you haven’t done already, or to do more if you are on the right track. Feel free to leave any questions, ideas or thoughts below in the comment section!
